Billy Bush is finally talking about the infamous live mic Trump tape. You know – the one where Trump talks about trying to “fuck” a married woman, how he “moved on her like a bitch,” and how he grabs women “by the pussy…” his words, not mine.

After that video was published, one man was fired from his job as a TV talk show host, and the other became the President of the free world. The truth of that sentence…holy shit.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Billy said:

“Looking back upon what was said on that bus, I wish I had changed the topic,” he admitted. “[Trump] liked TV and competition. I could’ve said, ‘Can you believe the ratings on whatever?’ But I didn’t have the strength of character to do it.”

He also said his 15-year-old daughter called him the second she saw the video and asked him why he was laughing at the things Trump was saying, because “they weren’t funny.” He told her he didn’t have a good excuse. But that’s not enough, Billy, because you weren’t just playing a passive role in laughing at the heinous things coming out of Trump’s mouth, you actively engaged in sexist behavior the moment you stepped off that bus.

How are so many people forgetting what took place right after that conversation? Allow me to remind you:

Arianne Zucker greets the two men and Billy immediately jumps into:

Bush: How about a little hug for the Donald? He just got off the bus.

Zucker: Would you like a little hug, darling?

Trump: O.K., absolutely. Melania said this was O.K.

Bush: How about a little hug for the Bushy? I just got off the bus.

Can you imagine how disgusted Arianne would feel being peer pressured into giving these misogynists hugs if she had heard the conversation that had just taken place!? Billy is actively engaging in Trump’s sick little game with him, weirdly trying to impress him. And the game continues:

Trump: Come on, Billy, don’t be shy.

Bush: Soon as a beautiful woman shows up, he just, he takes off. This always happens.

…Oh really? Is that what the kids are calling it now?...

Bush: Now, if you had to choose honestly between one of us. Me or the Donald?

Trump: I don’t know, that’s tough competition.

Zucker: That’s some pressure right there.

Bush: Seriously, if you had — if you had to take one of us as a date.

Zucker: I have to take the Fifth on that one.

Bush: Really?

Zucker: Yup — I’ll take both.

Billy…what the fuck are you doing!? Why would you ask that question? It’s as if he’s trying to play wingman to Trump because he was just told Trump likes to kiss women without their consent. Like he’s warming Arianne up to be sexually assaulted…but for some reason he thinks it’s OK because he’s not assaulting anyone…just harassing them. As a host, hell as a HUMAN, I would be SO UNCOMFORTABLE being treated this way, being asked those questions.

So no, Billy, you’re not sorry that your 15-year-old heard you laughing to Trump’s nasty admission of sexually assaulting women. Don’t try to make me empathize with you through your daughter and don’t downplay what you actually did. I hope you remember that she’ll always see you as this person: A man who doesn’t respect women, a man who actively, unabashedly harasses them. How could you ever think that behavior was acceptable, and if you knew it wasn’t, why would you act that way when you knew there was a camera in your face?

You won’t even admit it…that you actively engaged in sexual harassment to try to play wingman for a man who just admitted he assaults women. These aren’t the little micro-aggressions that women have to deal with daily, these are just straight aggressive!

Billy, you’re worse than Trump. Trump may talk the talk, but you walk the walk.
